Data Aggregation

Napa Valley Think Tank, is a very technical wine laboratory that will run complex analyses on different wine samples for any size winery in the Napa Valley area. They came to General Things Inc. looking for a way to help report that data back to their customers in a more automated fashion.

From there I worked with Ryan Hennessey, Project Manager & Nick Hodulik, CEO to wireframe, create a simple application like design, then to build the app. The app was built on a Ruby on Rails stack, using HAML, CoffeeScript, SASS, and MySQL.

This project encompassed writing a file system monitoring application that watched a series of folders for new output data, when it found new data, it would then use an extraction transformation & loading process to aggregate and streamline the data as it was being entered into the system. From there the laboratory technicians could login and validate the data, and add it to the proper reports, and then send out pdf reports to the appropriate customers.
